Founder Feature: Alfred AdusahThis week we sat down with BuildPals’ cofounder Alfred Adusah. Read on to learn why he admires Elon Musk and why he came to MEST!
Where are you from?
I am from the Ashanti Region in Ghana.
Tell me a bit about your company.
BuildPals is a software company that provides a tendering and bidding solution for the construction industry. The software enables project owners to create tendering requests effortlessly and invite contractors from anywhere in the world to bid. This is possible because the entire process is online; from document transfers to payments, all the way to bid evaluations. Our software makes the tendering and bidding process seamless, quick, and cost efficient.
Why did you come to MEST?
I came to MEST because I had a dream of becoming a software entrepreneur.
How did MEST help get you to where you are today?
MEST has been instrumental in my entrepreneurial journey. They provided me with the training to understand the world of software and its intricacies. They are also the first investors, offering both financial and technical support from their incubator.
What do you wish you had known as an EIT? Do you have any advice for this year’s group?
I entered MEST ready to learn and therefore I learnt as much as I could without any regrets. However, I would advise that the EITS stay true to themselves. They should carve their own path instead of trying to fill someone else's shoes.
What have been some of the biggest challenges you've faced while at the MEST training program and the MEST Incubator? How did you get past these challenges?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced during my time at MEST was anxiety for what would happen in the future. I tackled that fear by letting go, knowing that all I had was today so I had to do my best today and leave tomorrow to God.
What would you say is your greatest success?
My greatest success so far has been finding myself, my direction, and my purpose in this life.
What’s your favorite food?
I don’t have a favorite food; but, if I had to choose a meal, I would choose Corned Beef Ghanaian Jollof.
What do you like most about Ghana?
The peace and stability of Ghana stands amongst the best in the world, and I love it.
What is your favorite memory from your time at MEST?
The graduation after party. It was the one of most thrilling parties I had ever attended.
Who is your tech idol? Why?
Elon Musk because he is one of the great visionaries of our time - and he’s an African!
Do you have any books about tech that you would suggest?
- The Lean Startup by Eric Reiss
What is your favorite tech company? Why?
Tencent because it didn’t spring from the conventional tech ecosystems of the world, but is competing effectively with huge American tech companies.
Who/what inspires you?
Aliko Dangote because of his superior business acumen.
